Ape Tape Kinesiology Tape Review

  • I was given the opportunity to review this awesome kinesiology tape by Ape Tape. My photos of me actually using it are below, and excuse my crazy shoes, I was wearing my work attire. :) I have posted about other kinesiology tapes previously and I hope you enjoy this one as well!

  • The Ape Tape comes in a 2 inch or 4 inch wide, continuous not precut roll. It comes in three colors, black, orange, and sky blue. It can be a little more difficult to use because it is not precut but with a little bit of practice, you can learn how much you need very quickly and easily.

  • In case you have never heard of or used kinesiology tape before, it is a tape used for pain relief, injury recovery, and increased circulation or lymphatic drainage to an area. It is more common among athletes but I have used it on physical therapy patients after an injury at home with much relief. The tape can also assist with soreness, tension, or cramping.

  • Kinesiology tape is always my go to before a long run, after any sort of extensive weight lifting session, or after being on my feet so much at work. Tape could easily be used for anyone who loves to bike, run, walk, work a lot on their feet, cross fit, weight lifting, dance, or even someone working in an office with carpal tunnel. There are many different ways to tape and various techniques. I always youtube how to tape body part here because each spot has a different way to tape.
I placed the Ape Tape for my runners knee which I have been suffering from for some time but always find relief with kinesiology tape. The application was simple, I cut my own strips and placed it with the amount of tension I needed. I walked my usually 4 miles at work that night with minimal peeling. After my shower, I noted that it did peel a little bit more than other brands have and don't think I would recommend this tape for swimming even though I think it would last for at least the swim. The brand Ape Tape says that it should last a maximum of 3 days with sweating, swimming, and showering, but I don't think it would last all 3 days if used while swimming. However, I don't swim much so I cannot offer much help with that part of the review.

Overall, I did enjoy the Ape Tape. I did find comfort and did not find myself taking any pain relievers during my shift at work. I have to admit that the ends did start to peel quickly my shower but I usually change my tape after showers anyway so I didn't find it to be a problem. Since I have only used it for my knee, I cannot review how it helps other joints like hips, wrists, ribs, elbows, etc but I hope that it provides as much comfort there as it did to my knee.

AZSPORT Kinesiology Tape review!

Hello everyone! I was able to receive AZ Sport Kinesiology Tape for free in return for an unbiased review and here it is! I have tried multiple types of kinesiology tapes, including the "highly popular" brand that I have reviewed earlier on my blog. As much as I liked the product back then, I never realized how faulty it could be. That brand was very poor with their adhesive qualities and NEVER stayed on for more than a day for me. This product is completely different and in my opinion, 100% better.

The AZ Sport kinesiology tape came in a small compact container, in a blue color. I wasn't crazy about the color, I usually buy in pink, but thats besides the point. The tape is not pre-cut so I used a previously cut strip as a baseline. I was weary about whether or not it would stick because of my poor success rate with other brands but I was proven wrong very quickly.

As a runner and someone with fibromyalgia, random parts of my body are always aching. I constantly need to either tape or wrap my right knee and hip. I luckily got this tape just before a weekend in Washington DC, aka the place where you walk EVERYWHERE. I had my knee taped the night prior to, went to the gym, showered, went to work, and then hit the road. There was no sign of wear or tear on the tape, something I wasn't used to. It took three days for me to realize that the adhesive on this tape was something else and I took off the tape because of a slight allergic reaction from the heat, sweat, and the adhesive.

In case you didn't know, kinesiology tape is generally used to increase muscle strength during a strain, injury, or just for extra support. It could also aid in blood circulation and lymph drainage, creating a speedy recovery. You might be skeptical about whether or not it could actually work but trust me, IT DOES!

There are many different youtube videos and websites that could aid you in figuring out how to tape, I personally use youtube because it shows you step-by-step how to place the tape and to what tension.  The tape could be used for runners knee, IT band syndrome, shin splints, strained rib muscles, carpal tunnel, strained shoulder, and many many more injuries.

I have used the tape for my runners knee and IT band syndrome. It worked so much better than any other brand that I have tried and will easily be buying this product again after I finish my roll. AZ Sport states that the band is hypoallergienic, latex free, water resistant, and skin friendly adhesive. My only suggestion to anyone using this or any other tape, make sure your skin is not being irritated by the constant bending of a joint (like my knee), clothing (like my pants), and the tape along with the heat and sweat. Fortunately, I used the product again after the first irritation and it did NOT happen again.

I am positive the AZSport tape could easily last 4-6 days with no fraying at the edges and with no peeling. I felt the effectiveness even 3 days after placing the tape on. The company has a refund in place if you are not completely thrilled with the product so its a risk free purchase. In my opinion, you will not be dissatisfied with this tape. Maybe just the color :)
